Lemony-snicket

This is a lemon cake with a slight lemon-flavored, buttercream icing made for a bake sale at our church.

Butterfly Cake

This was a last-minute order from a guy at work who wanted a 'larger than sheet-cake' sized, butterfly-shaped cake for his girlfriend. With 2 days notice during the work week. In other words - a major rush job.

He wanted a simple white cake with vanilla frosting. A simple, HUGE white cake.

I made this using 4 sheet cakes and a whole bunch of vanilla buttercream icing. A whole bunch.
The antennae...I know what you are thinking, but these weren't the FINAL antennae for the cake. At least I don't think he used these. My wife fashioned some chocolate antennae while I was at work. They were fragile enough that we decided to give them to the client so he could insert them in the cake once he got home. Hopefully he did, because these are just....sad. Very sad.

I can seeeeee you

These are the eyeball cupcakes I made for the guys at work this Halloween. They are red velvet cupcakes topped with buttercream icing and and either cherry, Whopper or Milk Dud eyeballs.

Choco-licious

I made this cake for my birthday, but was working too many hours at the paying gig to spend much time decorating a cake for myself. The result - it's a little plain and funky shaped, but kinda cool looking all the same.
I experimented with sotas (the drizzled frosting look) on top and think that turned out pretty cool.
Contrary to what you might believe, I actually meant for the cake to be shaped this way. I just planned to do a little more decrating than I was able to get around to doing before the family was ready to light the candles and chow down.

Prize winning cake

I entered a summer-themed cake decorating contest at the local Hobby Lobby and won 1st place in the Wilton 2 category for this little beauty.

Wilton 4 cake

Here is my final cake for the Wilton 4 class. I decided that I wanted to make a more 'manly' cake...which is tough to do when I'm supposed to showcase the handkerchief drape....

...and daisies in a dainty box. The brown fondant makes it look manly, doesn't it?
Pay no attention to the slight view of the family eating taco salad in the background. Take note of the mint chocolate cake in the foreground. Mmmmmm-manly.

Pecans Galore

I sold this cake to the same guy who ordered the carrot cake. He's a single guy who loves cake, but doesn't like to bake. Lucky for me!

This was a pecan cake with vanilla buttercream icing...and lots of pecans. Lots of pecans.
