Duuuuuude

This was my second sale cake - made for a friend of a friend's 60th birthday party. It was a white cake with tinted batter and....

covered in a green marbelized fondant. Truth be told, I attempted to make tie-dye frosting but couldn't get it to work. I still do not enjoy working with fondant, but I've learned some new techniques and know I can make a better cake. The customer was very happy with this one though and their friend was pleasantly surprised.

Sold!

This was the first cake I sold. It was a carrot cake with buttercream frosting and made for a co-worker.
These are carrot cupcakes made for my wife's co-op preschoolers to go along with one of the books they were reading in class.

Wilton 3 cake

Here is my final cake for the Wilton 3 class. This was my first time using fondant. I tried to marbleize the pink fondant for the bow. It was harder than you'd think, but turned out fairly well - for a first attempt anyway. This cake wasn't quite finished by the end of class (notice the lack of other decorations), but I managed to add a few more details.

Here is a more finished version of the above cake. The bow deflated in the fridge, but it was still a nice looking cake.

Delaney's Ladybug cake

I made this cake for my daughter's 8th birthday. It was my first shaped cake - made using a Wilton pan. This was also my first cake using the star tip.

Wilton 2 cake

This was my final cake for the Wilton 2 class. This was a cake of firsts:

first rope border....

first basket weave....
and first multi-colored batter.

Two-tone swirl? Nope!

This was my attempt at making two-tone swirled cupcakes. See how well it worked?

Not so much.
I could swirl just fine...just couldn't get the color to cooperate with me. It did work for the first 2 or 3, but then the colors mixed together and I got this lovely shade of orange.

Flower Power (part 2)

More flower practice.
This was not a 'decorated' cake. It was made with  batter and frosting I had on hand and served as a display for the practice flowers I had been working on. The cake was not beautiful, but it was gooood.
These are cupcakes made for my wife's preschool co-op class. I was trying to use the frosting I had on hand - thus the funky colors. The bears were a hit with the kids.
